Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Treatments

Acupuncture

The practice of acupuncture involves placing sterile thin needles into the skin on certain points of an energy pathway, which are called meridians. The use of acupuncture on these certain points is used to improve the flow of blocked or stagnant qi or life force. Acupuncture can unblock these meridians and restore movement of qi and improvement of health, focusing on the prevention and treatment of illness.

Initial Consultation: 60 minutes - $160.
Subsequent Sessions: 45 minutes - $130.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to help improve circulation. Gua Sha may improve in areas where it is applied to help decrease muscle pain and is performed during an acupuncture session.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves suctioning the skin with cups. It may help improve blood flow, boost immune function, remove toxins and reduce pain.

Sessions - $60.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is an ancient, holistic health practice of using herbal mixtures to promote healing, well being and to address specific health issues. To achieve this state, herbal mixtures are recommended, based on their corresponding earthly element, taste and the organs they affect.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Acupuncture is usually not painful, but you might feel a mild tingling or ache when the needles are inserted.

  • When acupuncture is performed by a skilled practitioner, it is a safe and a useful treatment for many different disorders.

  • No, never. All needles are single use, sterile needles. Once used, it is removed and put into a sharps container for proper disposal. Every patient gets a new needle opened at the time of treatment.

  • At Wagga Acupuncture Centre, I combine manual muscle testing, orthopaedic assessment and Chinese Medicine to create an individual treatment plan for my patients. From this, we work with motor point acupuncture, dry needling, trigger points, electro acupuncture, gua sha and cupping to address range of motion issues, muscle imbalances, weakness and functional movement patterns.

  • Many people notice improvement after just one session, but this can vary from case to case. For minor or acute movement injuries, it typically takes about 3–6 treatments to see progress. Chronic injuries, however, may require more time to achieve significant symptom relief.

  • Ideally, loose, comfortable clothing should be worn to your treatment.

  • Your appointment time is reserved just for you. I require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or appointment changes. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or miss your appointment, a cancellation fee will be charged. Unpaid fees must be settled before you can book future appointments. Once your balance is cleared, your ability to rebook will be reinstated.

As a courtesy, you will receive an email reminder 48 hours before your appointment and a text message 24 hours prior.

Late cancellations or missed appointments create gaps in the schedule that could have been used by other patients. Wagga Acupuncture Centre is a busy clinic with a waitlist, so if you know you can’t make your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible to allow someone else to take your spot.
